WHAT HAPPENED TODAY:

1981: The head of John Walsh’s son Adam was found in Hollywood, Florida. This event would later prompt the U.S. Congress to pass the Missing Children’s Act, giving the Federal Bureau of Investigation greater authority to track the disappearance of children. It also made Walsh a national spokesman against crime and eventually led to the establishment of America’s Most Wanted.

1999: A 32-year-old Egyptian man, pronounced dead after drowning, regained consciousness after spending three hours in a morgue refrigerator.

2019: Financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead of an apparent suicide in his jail cell in New York, while awaiting trail for sex trafficking charges.
